Labour business reception with Darren Jones MP & Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram
Darren Jones MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, and Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram visited Legacie's flagship Parliament Square project in the Baltic area of Liverpool on Thursday (6 February 2025).
The £100 million residential and commercial development has transformed the local landscape, with a range of over 500 apartments and amenities, including a new coffee shop, restaurant, forthcoming supermarket, and a public piazza area.
Parliament Square is one of Legacie's largest developments to date and has been an extraordinary regeneration success story. Built on what was once industrial land and the site of warehouses that had stood part vacant for decades, the development stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through ambitious development and investment.
Legacie's work, along with its development partner RW Invest, has brought new life to this part of Liverpool's city centre, delivering both investment and jobs while significantly enhancing the local economy.
During his visit, Chief Secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones MP praised the progress made at Parliament Square, acknowledging the regeneration and economic impact of the development.
He also highlighted the importance of projects like this, and Legacie's forthcoming development schemes including the redevelopment of Heaps Mill and One Park Lane, in fostering economic growth and job creation in Liverpool.
"It's fantastic to see how developments like this can make a strong economic contribution and create jobs. It has been good to hear about the impact of this scheme," Darren Jones remarked.
Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and local MPs Bill Esterson, Paula Barker and Peter Dowd also joined the visit which included a reception for business leaders.
John Morley, CEO of Legacie, said:
“We are always incredibly proud to showcase our work at Parliament Square, a project that not only represents our commitment to creating high-quality residential and commercial spaces but also our contribution to the economic growth of the region. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to host the Chief Secretary to the Treasury and
Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram. It was also pleasing to hear about the government’s plans to support growth and development, not just in Liverpool, but across the UK. This is particularly important to us as we explore new opportunities to grow and deliver new projects.”
Legacie's Parliament Square project created a significant number of jobs during construction and will provide further employment opportunities as the commercial amenities open. The company's headquarters is also located on the site. Legacie and RWinvest collectively employ 400 people.
