Work on £90m Parliament Square in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle gets underway

It's hoped to be the 'most popular address in the city' once completed

Developers of a housing scheme featuring hundreds of apartments on the edge of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle say work has started on delivering the £90m scheme.

Parliament Square is hoped to become the “most popular address in the city” once complete, and the 500 apartments will be spread across four blocks.

It’s being carried out by Legacie Developments, and will “offer all of the facilities of a hotel on a residential complex” as part of a public plaza – including restaurants, boutique shops and amenities available to residents.

Describing it as “unique”, John Morley of Legacie Developments, said: “Parliament Square will have a transformative impact on Liverpool and will provide a significant boost to the area immediately outside of the city centre.

“The public plaza will also be a gateway into the Baltic Triangle. This is a major development. The significant international and regional interest in the scheme reflects Liverpool’s appeal as a thriving destination to live and work. We expect it to become one of Liverpool’s most popular addresses.”

Legacie said the apartments will feature panoramic views, high-spec interiors, and a luxury rooftop spa complete with a swimming pool, which will be available to residents.

A New York-style penthouse, located at the top of the building which includes its own cinema room, has been listed on the market with Aspen Woolf for over £1.5 million .

Prices for the one, two and three-bedroom apartments start at £94,000, and plans for the development were approved by the council in autumn last year.

The developer faced a battle to get its plans for 500 luxury apartments on land off Greenland Street approved, as councillors and some creative leaders in the area initially opposed the plans.

But after the company made assurances about funding for nearby public space, they were approved.

Legacie Developments said the Parliament Square site will transform Parliament Street and improve the gateway into Baltic area and wider city centre.
